Huge Floor Pillows

Aren't these the most adorable floor pillows? You can find them in the Moda Bake Shop website under Home Decor. If I get brave enough to attempt to make them, I will post pictures.

Strip Quilt Block

I first saw this pattern when I had just begun to quilt. It looked so complicated at the time. After I had gotten my feet wet and had a few quilts under my belt, I decided to try it. It is so very simple! I used a thick pink strip in the center of my block but you could adapt it to a thinner strip or forego it altogether and use a strip that blends with your other fabrics.

Fabric collection

I am always curious to see how fabric collections are organized. This is mine, as small as it is. I do have some larger pieces that won't fit or just don't look right on the bookshelf. I also have some smaller plastic totes that hold my strips and jelly rolls as well as scraps.

My house is over 110 years old and the bookshelf encloses what used to be a passageway to the room that was originally the front parlor (it is now a bedroom). After reading hundreds of tips and ways to organize fabric I decided this was the best way for me to utilize the space I have. I have curtains in the works that will hang on cafe rods that swing out and open all the way. When closed, the curtains will prevent the fabric from receiving direct sunlight. If left uncovered, the afternoon sunlight that pours in the windows would fade the fabric, especially where it is creased from being folded.

I would love to know how you have organized your fabric! Or do you have an organized mess that only you can make sense of?

Quilt finished in July

This quilt is one I finished a few weeks ago. Pink and brown and so girly.

Forgot I had this blog...

I forgot I had this blog until Google sent an email about transitioning my followers over before they were forced over. Not sure what all that hoopla was about.

I am working on a Vietnam War quilt for my second cousin. It should be done in a few days and I will post a pic. I just finished a quilt for the American Cancer Society and will soon be working on one being donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Later in the summer I will complete one for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. And somehow in the middle of all these quilts, I have a precious neice that is patiently waiting for her 'owl quilt' and more dresses and Barbie blankets and pillows.

In the midst of all this, I am still working on my ongoing stair project. Will post pics of that too. Too bad I didn't get photos of the stairs before they were ripped apart to practically start all over again.
